Amy has done the most amazing job on two very tired old swivel chairs from the 1960’s. I chose a very vibrant polyester velvet which worked perfectly with the navy contrast on the backs and seat cushions. She also managed 3 scatter cushions with the leftover fabric. I’m delighted with the result. All I need now is complementing curtains and our lounge will be complete. I will be in touch Amy!

During our house renovations one of our lamps got damaged. I was given Amy’s number and contacted her to see if she could have a go at fixing it for us. Amy did a wonderful job of restoring our lamp for us! We were thrilled with the results! Thank you Amy!

  I asked Amy whether she could make me a moto jacket, and my new moto jacket is pure perfection! It's the perfect colour, the perfect size, has the perfect coloured zips, is nice and warm and so beautifully structured. Amy was super helpful in explaining my options for the style and offered lots of helpful advice on fabric selection. It's such an eye catcher, I get compliments on the jacket every time I wear it. I love it!

I contacted oo arh wondering if she could help in a unique way. I wanted a cushion made from my grandads old cardigan made for my dad (who has dementia) as a comfort and a memory aid.
Not only did I get exactly what I dreamed off but we worked together to then come up with the idea of Xmas tree decorations for all of the extra material (mine is now hung up all year). So happy with the end product and personal communications.
My cousins, aunties and uncles were all so touched to received abit of grandads memory. Thank you so so much xxx

I bought a Giorgio Armani jacket from a charity shop and wanted it up-cycled to be unique. Amy did a fabulous job and consulted with me on my wishes every step of the way. She has a natural eye for colour and detail. Love it! X

I had some curtains in a lovely French provencal fabric sitting in the loft and wanted to reuse the fabric as Roman blinds. I sent the curtains and measurements to Amy and she has produced the most beautiful blinds. They fit the windows perfectly and she has ensured that the patterns all line up when the fabric is folded and the sections match. The stitching is very neat and precise. The blinds were supplied with all the batons and fittings so all we had to do was fix them to the window. They look really pretty and Amy worked her magic and recycled my old curtains into lovely new blinds.

Thank you Amy for the wonderful bespoke curtains you made for our boat!! They look amazing and have transformed the interior. There are several sets of curtains in a variety of shapes and sizes using a very thick material with which you created curtains that fit perfectly and are beautifully made to a very high quality, thank you Amy. I confirm that Amy Holgate completed a four-week voluntary placement from 20th April to 15th May 2015 at Giffords Circus as an Art Department Assistant. She assisted with the making of props and scenery for this year’s show ‘Moon Songs’. Amy was a very conscientious member of the team, and highly dependable. She showed great textile skills, making beautiful leather roses to adorn the harnesses of our horses. She displayed both great hand sewing and machine sewing abilities working on various fabric drapes that dress the interior of our tent, plus helping out in the wardrobe department with embellishments and alterations. Amy worked calmly under pressure and used her own initiative to get work finished during hectic rehearsal periods. As well as improving Amy’s practical skills, hopefully this placement gave her great experience of working as part of a larger art department team and working to demanding schedules, as well as an insight into the production of a circus show.

Amy worked at Pretty Disturbia for 2 weeks over the Summer 2015. She was friendly, bubbly and fitted in to the design team easily.

She has great design ideas and made some fantastic collection items for our Co-ordinates collection which were innovative, but still commercial and she identified easily with our Alternative customer base.

She was punctual, reliable and also had fantastic writing skills.

In her time with us she helped style and organise shoots and worked on blogs as well as being a great design assistant.

She was always professional and her work was to a very high standard.

In April 2015 St Mary’s Players performed the musical ‘South Pacific’ at The Redgrave Theatre in Bristol.  I was Costume Co-ordinator for this production.  Amy has helped St Mary’s in past productions not only with making costumes but also with being ‘backstage’ the week of the show and helping with quick changes and generally being part of the backstage team and all that is involved.  Due to other commitments Amy wasn’t able to be with us the week of the show for South Pacific but still volunteered to help with the making of any costumes.  

I asked her to make the costumes for one of the characters, Liat.  As always with amateur theatre we were on a very limited budget, therefore the fabric I gave Amy was more of an upcycling project.  She was given some old curtain fabric and an old costume which had plenty of fabric in it, along with a purchased pattern, (although she was more than happy if I hadn’t found a pattern to have made one up herself).   Amy wasn’t fazed at all by this project, in fact I think she relished the challenge.   We had a discussion about what we were aiming to do, so that we both had the same ‘image’ in our heads!!    

After only a few days I had some emails and photographs of progress from Amy.  I always felt that she understood what was needed and that she could be relied upon to undertake the work required. 

When finished she delivered the costume to us during a rehearsal so that she could fit the costumes onto the lady playing the part of Liat.  What Amy made was exactly right for the character and of a very high standard of workmanship.

I would happily work with Amy again in any future productions, she is a joy to work with.
